Aurora West College Prep Academy Boys Soccer Falls Short in First‑Round Playoffs
Aurora’s own West College Prep Academy boys soccer team experienced a tough night on the field Wednesday, ending their season with a 1‑0 loss to Coal Ridge in the opening round of the Class 3A state playoffs. It was the first shut‑out the Wildcats endured all year, snapping a streak of offensive consistency that had kept fans at the Aurora Community Center buzzing all season long.
The match, held at Coal Ridge’s home field just outside the city, saw the Wildcats press early but struggle to break through a disciplined Coal Ridge defense. A solitary goal in the second half—courtesy of a well‑placed header—proved decisive. Despite a valiant effort from senior captain Miguel Alvarez, who led the charge with relentless energy, the Wildcats couldn’t find the back of the net.
Local supporters gathered in large numbers, waving the West College Prep blue and gold banners that have become a familiar sight on Aurora’s streets and at the Aurora High School stadium. “We’re proud of how far the team went,” said longtime fan and Aurora resident Jenna Morales. “Even though the season’s over, the community spirit is still alive and kicking.”
As the Wildcats look ahead to off‑season training, the city of Aurora remains eager for the next chapter of high‑school soccer. Stay tuned for updates on summer camps, upcoming tryouts, and how you can support West College Prep’s athletes as they prepare for a comeback next year.
