Aurora’s 5A Tennis Contenders Hit the Courts: State Tournament Kicks Off Wednesday
The road to a state title officially opened Wednesday for Aurora’s top Class 5A boys tennis programs, with local heavyweights looking to make noise at the CHSAA State Championships.
All eyes are on the Grandview Wolves and Cherokee Trail Cougars—perennial Centennial League favorites who enter the bracket with deep lineups and legitimate title aspirations. Don’t sleep on Regis Jesuit (playing in the Aurora sphere) or a Smoky Hill squad that peaks perfectly in May. Over at Eaglecrest and Rangeview, young guns are looking to pull early upsets and steal quarterfinal spots.
Where to Watch the Action First-round team duals began Wednesday at high seeds across the Front Range, but the real atmosphere shifts to the Gates Tennis Center (Cherry Creek High School) Friday and Saturday for the quarterfinals, semis, and finals. It’s the closest thing to a home-court advantage our Aurora squads get at state—grab a coffee at the nearby Stir Coffee on Havana and make the short drive down I-225.
