Aurora Prep Football: Week 6 Scoreboard & Schedule — Independents League Heats Up
AURORA — Friday night lights are back across the city as Aurora’s prep football teams hit the gridiron for Week 6 of the 2026 season. The Independents League takes center stage Saturday, with Hinkley hosting Lincoln at 2 p.m. in a matchup both programs need.
The Thunderbirds (0-4) are searching for their first win under first-year head coach Marcus Whitfield, who returned to his alma mater this fall after a stint at Overland. Lincoln (1-4) arrives with a little momentum after a competitive loss to Rangeview last week. Both teams call the Aurora Public Schools Stadium home, so expect a solid turnout from the East Side faithful.
Across the city, Cherry Creek, Eaglecrest, Grandview, and Smoky Hill all look to build playoff résumés in Centennial League play. The Bruins travel to Mullen in a Thursday night showcase, while the Raptors host Arapahoe on Friday. Grandview heads to Overland for a crosstown battle that always draws a crowd at Stutler Bowl.
Week 6 Schedule (kickoff 7 p.m. unless noted):
Thursday, Oct. 1 Cherry Creek at Mullen, 7 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 2 Arapahoe at Eaglecrest Grandview at Overland Smoky Hill at Cherokee Trail Rangeview at Vista PEAK Gateway at Aurora Central Regis Jesuit at Valor Christian
Saturday, Oct. 3 Independents League Lincoln at Hinkley, 2 p.m.
