Aurora residents will need to plan around lane closures at the Parker/Quincy/Smoky Hill intersection through at least December 2026. Active work runs 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Monday‑Friday with lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Flood‑damaged roadways have closed 56th Avenue between Monaghan and Hudson and Hudson Road between 56th and 26th all day, with detours along Monaghan or Imboden Roads. Repair work is slated to begin in summer 2027 after the new replacement road is designed.
From Friday night November 6 to Monday morning November 9, the eastbound I‑70 exit ramp to Chambers Road stays closed for the installation of a new stormwater culvert. Posted detour signs and extra travel time are advised.
The I‑70 pavement‑repair project from Chambers Road to the E‑470 exchange runs 16 months. Work occurs 24 hours a day, from sunset to sunrise, with single‑lane night closures on weekdays and daytime work every day.
Aurora’s traffic engineering staff coordinate with contractors to minimize lane closures and overlapping projects, but weather and other delays still affect schedules. Map updates and weekly construction round‑ups can be found on the city’s online map for uptodate detour information.
