AURORA — Aurora now counts five operating data centers, city officials confirmed this week, with several additional campuses moving through the development pipeline — a cluster that is reshaping how the city regulates water, noise and land use.

The largest proposed project is the QTS campus near I-70 and E-470, described as the biggest data center development in Colorado. In northeast Aurora, the proposed Trident at Windler project would add about 1.5 million square feet on 143 acres, and developer Vantage has floated a two-building campus that could also rank among the state's largest.

The boom has forced City Council to act. This month lawmakers banned evaporative cooling in new industrial builds, began drafting residential setback and screening rules, and advanced zoning changes that would keep future facilities out of mixed-use office and institutional zones.

AuroraToday maintains a live tracker of every operating and proposed data center in the city, including site size, developer and regulatory status.
