Aurora Public Schools broke ground on a new Health Sciences High School in northwest Aurora, near North Middle School and the Anschutz Medical Campus. The project, funded by the voter‑approved 2024 Bond Program and partnered with UCHealth and the Community College of Aurora, will be the first district‑run high school of its kind in Colorado. The school plans to admit about 125 ninth‑graders in fall 2027 and will offer five healthcare pathways: nursing, behavioral health, medical imaging, surgical technology and respiratory therapy. Students will work in simulation labs, clinical settings and alongside professionals, with options to earn industry credentials, college credits and associate degrees through P‑TECH pathways with CCA.

“Together, we have an opportunity to show our students that some of the most exciting educational and career opportunities in our region are not somewhere far away,” APS Superintendent Michael Giles, Jr. said. “They are right here in Aurora.”

Founding principal Kristin Wiedmaier will lead the school, and magnet applications open Nov 13. More information is at magnet.aurorak12.org/whats-new.
