Aurora Residents: Recent Armed Robbery Near Downtown
A shocking robbery took place this week at a popular storefront on East Colfax Avenue, just a few blocks from the Aurora Civic Center. Two men—one brandishing a handgun—smashed the glass of the main entrance, forced the employee behind the counter, and grabbed the cash drawer before fleeing on foot. Police officers arrived moments later, but the suspects had already disappeared into the surrounding neighborhood.
Local law‑enforcement officials are urging anyone who saw the incident or who has security‑camera footage to come forward. “We’re treating this as an armed robbery and are actively canvassing the area,” said Aurora Police Chief John Doe. Officers are also reviewing nearby surveillance video to identify the perpetrators.
The incident has reignited conversations about business safety in Aurora, especially for shops that operate late into the evening. Business owners are being reminded to upgrade window security, install motion‑sensor lighting, and consider silent‑alarm systems that alert the Aurora Police Department instantly.
