Remembering Kathryn Candace McMillin (1947 – 2026)
The Aurora community says goodbye to a beloved neighbor, Kathryn Candace McMillin, whose life spanned 79 years of dedication, kindness, and Colorado spirit. Born in 1947, Kathryn made Aurora her home for more than five decades, raising a close‑knit family, volunteering at the Aurora Library, and sharing her love of gardening at the City Park community garden. Friends recall her warm smile, her legendary peach cobbler at the annual Aurora Fall Festival, and the countless hours she spent mentoring teens through the Aurora Youth Mentorship program.
Kathryn’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched—neighbors, coworkers at the Denver Gazette, and the countless volunteers she inspired. A private memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, November 7, followed by a celebration of life reception at the Aurora Community Center. The family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Aurora Food Bank, an organization close to her heart.
