Teen driver crashes stolen car into Del Mar apartment complex after police chase

Early Sunday morning, a stolen vehicle that police pursued near Del Mar Circle and Peoria Street careened into an apartment building at the Del Mar and Hoffman Boulevard intersection at about 5:15 a.m.

Aurora Police say the driver, a teenage boy, refused to stop and the car lost control before striking the complex. Officers arrested the teen at the scene and transported him to a hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries.

A firearm was found inside the vehicle, and police confirmed a second suspect involved in the theft remains unidentified and at large. No other residents were injured, and officials expect damage to the building to be minimal.

What this means for residents: Police are urging anyone with information about the second suspect to contact the Aurora Police Department.

What's next: The investigation continues, with a follow‑up press briefing scheduled for later this week.
